2nd SOTA Activation to be attempted Sat

2nd SOTA Activation to be attempted Sat Apr 14 of Waterrock Knob W4/WM-004 Sat 1800Z Pls listen for me at 7.190-ssb, 14.345-ssb, 21.285-ssb. This’ll be my 2nd; first was last wkend on Clingmans Dome and got 5 qso’s. Four are needed for me to earn points.

I have retuned the homebrew Buddistick by rewinding the 40m coil with 20-ga spkr wire per the instructions instead of the 22-ga I happened to have had on hand. SWR now below 1.5 on 40m! Rewound 20m coil same way and getting decent, <3, SWR, and good SWR on 15m with no coil needed.

The climb to Waterrock Knob is steep and rugged in parts. The ascent to Clingmans was all paved! Fortunately, it is not too too far and maybe I'll have a Verizon signal up there so I can spot myself. If not, I'll try to reach the Franklin repeater and ask someone listening to spot me.
